Our Newcastle restaurant made Mother’s Day very special for mum Christine Holdcroft.

Christine, from Norton,  was spoiled rotten by the Pasta di Piazza team, with a free three course meal and a beautiful bouquet of flowers after her daughter Samantha Goode got in touch via our Facebook page to explain why her mum is so special.

Samantha posted: “My mum has spent her life bringing up three kids and then looking after my nan and grandad as their carer until they died. She’s now a carer in the community and always puts others first, so this would be a lovely treat for her.”

The whole family joined Christine for her special lunchtime meal at our Newcastle restaurant, Christine’s first ever trip to an Italian restaurant, where she tucked into lasagne and a naughty Torta Selva Nera dessert of chocolate sponge soaked in liqueur filled with chocolate and chantilly cream served with Italian ice cream.

“I was so surprised when Pasta Di Piazza contacted me as it’s the first time I’ve won anything,” said Samantha.

“Mum had a wonderful time and she really deserves a treat. She has worked as a community carer for five years, and on top of that for the last five weeks she has done the school run for me as I had to have a cesaerean section, so I’ve not been able to drive.

“We all had a lovely time, and our newborn, William, actually slept through the whole thing so it was a really relaxing afternoon for us all.”

Christine Wright, our manager at the Newcastle restaurant, said: “We always try to spoil mum’s on mother’s day, so every mum who dined with us was treated to a glass of prosecco on the house but it was particularly lovely to treat Christine to a meal.

“We’re delighted the family enjoyed their afternoon with us, and now at Easter we’re planning to give any children eating with us a little Easter egg treat as well.”
